At our workshops we often talk Anno's Counting Book. So many different ways numbers are used! One of those trees has 6 branches, sure, but I see the 5TH branch of that tree. There aren't 5 clocks, but it is 5 o'clock. ...nominal, cardinal, ordinal, referential... #earlymath

A few “how many” dice images for you. “I see ___ (insert number). Can you figure out what I’m counting?” Great routine to promote student-student discourse, sharing of ideas...

In Year 1 maths we have been learning to identify and sort shapes. We went on a 3D shape hunt around our homes and sorted 2D shapes into groups! PA Maths #Maths #ks1 #homelearning

In #Year1, the children have been learning about tens and ones. Look at these fantastic ways that pupils found of representing numbers. They have been showing place value using items which can be found at home! #Maths

🤷🏼‍♀️Which one doesn’t belong?🤷🏼‍♀️ This activity 💯 belongs in the classroom to provoke maths #talk! Posed CuriousMathsSara brilliant question (👈🏼check them out) to Y5 today & the responses were superb! The #buzz in the room moved from partitioning, to multiples...& even to algebra!

Instrumental vs Relational understanding. Safe to say most of us teachers we’re probably taught with a heavy focus on Instrumental understanding - procedures in isolation. Making connections is vital. #pamathsconference Leanne Lowe (pr. Casey)

This take on Wordle was really popular we ended up playing a couple more games than intended. Lots of quiet mental maths and lolly sticks to choose someone to guess each time.
