Another thought-provoking PRES Lecture from Lara El Mekaui today discussing how her concept of "hesitant belonging" plays out in works of contemporary Palestinian transnational fiction! Missed Lara's lecture? You can watch it here: uwaterloo.webex.com/uwaterloo/ldr.… (Password: MfR3s8dm)

(1/2) This is also a good time to announce that after 2+ years of chairing the PRES Lecture Series--an initiative I started to help UWaterloo English grad students share and showcase their research--it's time for me to turn things over to a new lead as I near the end of my degree.

(2/2) As such, I'm pleased to welcome my UWaterloo English colleague Christopher Rogers as the incoming PRES Lecture Chair! Chris will be transitioning into the role over the next few months, so keep an eye out for more from R. Christopher Rogers 😊 Excited to watch PRES continue to grow!

Join us on October 27th from 3-4pm for a spooky lecture from PhD candidate Julie Veitch. Details: preslectures.wordpress.com/2023/10/04/the…

Attention UWaterloo English grad students! PRES Lectures is looking for presenters for Winter 2024 term 🧐 Why not kick off the new year by sharing your work-in-progress research projects in a constructive and supportive environment? 😊 (Contact R. Christopher Rogers to learn more!)

DO: Join us Friday, April 5th at 3:00 PM in HH232 or online for the next PRES Lectures featuring Shannon Lodoen! DON'T: Read the blurb here (preslectures.wordpress.com/2024/03/11/an-…) and then start mentally changing the lyrics to Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" to say "You Persuasive Thing"...

Join us Friday from 3-4pm in HH232 for "An Altered Sense of Consequence" with Shannon! PRES Lectures ... of course, if you really got into the theme at the Graduate House afterwards... 😎

Does your smartphone constantly tug at your attention?Last week's PRES Lecture from Dr. Shannon Lodoen examines these devices through captology and procedural rhetoric. Recording now available. preslectures.wordpress.com/2024/03/11/an-…
