The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit in Green Bay, Wisconsin, against landlord David Jones and his company D Jones Properties LLC for violations of the Fair Housing Act from actions in 2021 and 2022.

The lawsuit alleges Jones engaged in severe and pervasive sexual harassment against a female tenant, including: making unwelcome sexual comments, entering the tenant’s home without permission, and offering housing benefits in exchange for sexual acts.

When the tenant rejected his advances and reported his actions to HUD, the landlord allegedly retaliated against her.

The DOJ is seeking compensation for “economic damages, a loss of a housing opportunity, and significant fear, anxiety, and emotional distress” as well as a court order to stop future violations.
