I just finished going through a shoebox stuffed with negatives and the odd photo. Oof.

I’m going to start cleaning up my mess cuz it’s quitting time. I’m only done for today. It’s easier to get back to it when things are semi-tidy for the next time. And the next time. And….

Thank goodness there is cup a ramen in the house. I’m hungry but too beat from running up & down memory lane to make anything proper.

There are still bins to go through. I found a shoebox filled with unused envelopes, but they had fused themselves shut so recycling gets em. There are various other stationary items to go through & probably dump.

The time change & resulting darkness is making me shut down much earlier than usual. I deeply dislike this.

People see you upright and assume you’re fine when it comes to chronic illness. They don’t see the internal negotiations. The energy math calculations. The quiet panic when your body starts slipping mid day. They see us functioning. They don’t see the crash that follows .

I've already dismantled 2 photo albums for the pics I want to keep. I'm not ripping them all up as some are better organized than others. I already have several filed in a dedicated spot that I can easily reach if I want to revisit old times.

I'm starting to make headway. I don't know that I would have been able to plow through all these photos as quickly as I am doing four years ago, being able to discard many, even of the parents. Right now, these bins are obstacles for me & I want them emptied.

Good gosh & golly! Found a trove of old letters, cards, school memorabilia, love letters, notes, misc correspondence, diaries……I didn’t even remember I had saved all this stuff. Lots of cringe diary entries ha ha. I can’t believe I carted all this stuff around for so long.

All that stuff is gone now. Boy, I was quite the little writer. I also came across maps & info on the little beach town I had hoped to move to. And the maps my friend & I printed out of our coastal roadtrip during which I found this town. Anyway, that’s gone now too, with a pang.

I guess this is real Swedish Death Cleaning that I’m doing. Leaving all these sundry boxes of my past would have been an onerous task for someone to go through after I was gone. There is a lot of personal stuff. Garbage Night is going to be lit next week!

I’m ready to run into the woods and turn into moss.
