The gap between a Latinist's level at the end of schooling and their readiness to read authentic texts has been growing with each generation (due to successive curriculum time cuts). At the same time we've been focusing on only publishing school-oriented Latin texts. 1/10

Sure, we talk about Homer's catalogue of ships and Hesiod's catalogue of women, but what about Xenophon's catalogue of good dog names (On Hunting VII.5)? Some of my favorites are Aktis (Sunbeam), Froura (Look-out), Chara (Joy), Augo (Glitter), and Styrax (Spike).
