It's hot and humid in the native garden today. It may reach 90°F today and after a break tomorrow it comes right back on Thursday and into next week. As much as I'm looking forward to summertime blooms, I prefer spring-like temperatures.

Not a lot going on in the Smolenski park prairie restoration bloom-wise aside from invasive oxeye daisies. The seed mix used probably could have used more early June-blooming species.

I've been using a bamboo pole as a dragonfly perch for years, and it always works! There's a twelve-spotted skimmer on it today.

This is why I haven't hiked the Smolenski park prairie restoration in over a month. Same thing as last year, they don't mow the trails nearly enough. This is the trail. It's as tall as the prairie itself.

Made a quick visit to Myers Park yesterday along Lake Michigan. Had a red-winged blackbird dive at my head. Fun times! I enjoy this habitat and only wish it was about 1000 times bigger.
