Old pols, mainly from the urban Northeast, sit at the far left corner of the House chamber. Pascrell, a former mayor of Paterson, N.J., had the very corner seat and was the unofficial mayor of The Corner. ⁦Paul Kane⁩ knows the territory well. washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…

Whether Trump or Harris wins in November, the next president could immediately face gridlock with an opposing party holding control of the House or Senate, writes Paul Kane washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…

Re-upping PSA: Fellow reporters the House is not returning from "August recess". Their last vote was held at 10:59 am, July 25, a full 47 days ago. Both sides guilty. In '22, Dems took 46-ish-day "August recess."

Interesting question: did Menendez ever sign his desk? Every senator is supposed to sign before they leave. Some forget or don’t bother - Al Gore never signed Desk 88, the desk Brown occupies & wrote about in his book.

House’s first night back since Bill Pascrell, Jr. 🇺🇸🇺🇦 died at home in Paterson. They’ve placed a black drape & bouquet of white roses in the “corner”, where Silky was the unofficial mayor. I can’t take/share the picture in the House. I wrote this on 8/24: washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…

“Trump was on defense. Harris stuck to her points, was coherent and frankly, more professional than I have ever seen her. Trump missed too many opportunities.” That's Jason, a 40-something, Trump-leaning white guy from Wisconsin. Click more here: washingtonpost.com/elections/inte…

Faced with a debate debacle of their own, Congressional Rs whistled past the graveyard & avoided blaming Trump. Quite a contrast to Dems circa June 28. The “missed opportunity” was the soft, passive critique of the day. Click for my column. washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…
