Having strong technical leadership has lots of advantages, but one of them is it naturally leads to a healthier cadence. These folks typically have to be home for dinner, and they're old enough to know that death marches don't work.

“They just told me I have cancer. It’s everywhere in my body. And you say you’re a kidney doctor? What the hell are you doing here?” His voice is gruff, and as he looks at me, I feel the weight of his gaze. For a moment I hesitate, then ask. “Mind if I sit down?” 1/

Startup founder to me: “iOS developers are more product oriented and care for good design than all the other developers we’ve worked with”

I really enjoyed this WWDC session about SwiftUI API design. It shares good principles that you can apply every day. developer.apple.com/wwdc22/10059

One of the things that I think is sad about the decimation of Twitter eng is that Twitter was doing a lot of interesting (and high ROI) engineering work that, at younger companies, is mostly outsourced to "the cloud" or open source projects A few examples off the top of my head:

The reason why clockspeed matters so much in a company is the compounding value of the thousands of small little decisions and incremental steps that turn into the ultimate value customers see. The small things going quickly end up being much more important than you realize.

What is the name for the size a company gets when the company laptop becomes fully managed and you can’t use the apps that have made you productive no mo? 🤔

Super excited and proud to launch Huck, a neat Apple Watch app that I've built to solve a real-world problem that I've had: keeping score while playing Ultimate Frisbee! Check it out on Product Hunt!

When did it become possible to share Airtag tracking with someone?! Super useful, and have wished for this since its launch.
