Nigel Farage wants to reopen coal mines in Wales. Wales had the highest rate of respiratory death in Western Europe due, in part, to our industrial heritage. The mines also devastated our environment and there remains thousands of people living below dangerous coal tips.

The more you look at it, the more the spending review looks like a bad deal for Wales in terms of rail. Over 4 years Wales gets £348 million (not even a pop share of non-HS2 rail spending). This is only £108 million (45%) more than spending on a single station in Leeds...
