Conservation update from Field Research Project Manager, Kinley! Trail cams are an amazing resource that we can use to further research wild populations! 🐾

ZooTeens 🤝 Community Service Earlier this month, some of our ZooTeens joined AZGFD for a morning of conservation field work at the Lo Piano canal & Papago Park. The group removed 17 invasive apple snails, over 550 egg masses, invasive stinknet and trash from the canal!

It's World Otter Day and we are diving in! 🦦 Did you know spotted-necked otters have great underwater vision? Their forward-facing eyes give them binocular vision, which allows them to see three-dimensionally and locate and catch fish!

Today is National Alligator Day! 🐊 Unfortunately, Chinese alligators, like Bumi, are ranked as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List and there are fewer than 200 in the wild today.

It's a boy!!! 💙 Born on May 4, Hayden surprised us all! With his birth occurring on the iconic Star Wars Day, our keepers decided to name him Hayden, after the actor who played Anakin Skywalker! It is also a playful blend between his parents' names, Haddie and Boyd.

Today is World Parrot Day! 🦜 Did you know that parrots have zygodactyl feet, which means they have two toes pointing forward and two pointing backward, allowing them to grip branches while climbing! 🌴
