Ekitike not going down after all that is exactly why players dive. Honesty gets you nothing in soccer. Blame the refs for that. They should call it but they don’t, so players have to dive.

It's a good PR move and probably avoids a defamation lawsuit with Richard Childress, but anyone expecting this to be a magic fix in how the sport is run is going to be disappointed. Especially if Jim France stays in charge. Phelps is merely an effective scapegoat for France.

The replies from fans are indicative of what will kill NASCAR before France or Phelps or any other exec that's supposedly killing the sport. Is a tween girl NASCAR clothing line for me? No. So what do I care? If that unlocks the sport for someone, fine with me.

The Liam Coen press conference discourse has reinforced one major thing: We've reached the point where media should not discuss media ethics publicly. Even if the overwhelming majority of *media members* agree, the public will not get the media's viewpoint.

With all the advance notice and having the announcement on a Monday, it feels like NASCAR is happy with this and they think the fans will be happy with it too. Guess we'll see.

this is obviously well beyond sports, but one of the worst things to happen to discourse is allowing virtually *any* level of critique to be dubbed as "hating"

Think 16 is too many but I'm cool with it overall. Got rid of "win and you're in" which is good. As long as the final 10 races incorporates a healthy mix of tracks relative to the overall season, it's going to be a nice system to crown a champion.

Probably for the best. With more road courses on the schedule, the Roval outlived its usefulness. That being said, there should be a road course in the Chase. Not a new one, just move one of the current races.
