Affordable housing in Pittsburgh is at risk. Councilman Charland’s IZ proposal undermines years of community-driven work. The City Planning Commission will consider them both on 1/28! Here's what you need to know. 👇 Pittsburgh UNITED PGHers for Public Transit 1HoodPower Lawrenceville United

Bob Charland's "Inclusionary Zoning" ordinance 2024-1284 would qualify a 1-BR unit set at $1,899 as "affordable" and would qualify the project for automatic approvals, fast-tracking, and density bonuses. THIS RENT IS ALREADY WHAT THE MARKET IS PROVIDING. 🧵

Join us on 1/28 at 2 PM for the Planning Commission Hearing & Action to say NO to Councilman Charland's ordinance and YES to expanding our successful IZ policy citywide. mobilize.us/ppt/event/7451…

This morning, Pittsburgh Regional Transit formalized its proposals to cut transit service deeply, and raise fares, across Allegheny County without new money from the PA state government. But what does that mean? (1/)

Transit for All PA! (@transitpa) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Pittsburgh Regional Transit Pittsburgh Regional Transit has already cut 36% of service in the last 25 years, directly contributing to major losses in ridership - when we know that riders’ top priority for transit is frequency and reliability. (2/)

Pittsburgh Regional Transit Now, after years of fighting for state funding, we have reached the precipice of much worse: the elimination of 41 bus and train routes, and minor-to-major cuts to 54 others. And the cost of this diminished service? At least $3 per ride. (3/)

Transit for All PA! (@transitpa) 's Twitter Profile Photo

For paratransit and shared-ride users, it’s much worse: a shrinkage in service area by 62%, and fare increases of 20%. This will cut off healthcare, community, and employment entirely to swaths of our elderly and disabled populations, who are most transit-dependent. (4/)

We can’t despair; we must organize ✊. Riders & workers need YOU to ensure @PASenateDems PA Senate Republicans work with Governor Josh Shapiro - not for the status quo, but for the service riders need for work, health, community. Let’s win: transitforallpa.org/takeaction/ (5/end)

🚨🚨 PRT proposed HUGE service cuts due to stagnant state funding. 40% cuts, fair hikes, and a 65% reduction in the paratransit footprint. Its bad, but the good news is that we can fight back SHARE THIS VIDEO, learn more, and take action: transitforallpa.org/takeaction

Today at the Save Our Service Rally, I said we need to send a message to Harrisburg — don't take our lifeline, fund it! Pittsburghers use public transit to get to doctors' offices, grocery stores, and workplaces — they deserve real long-term investments to protect our service.
