Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a lifelong friend of the United Nations, present in 1946 at the first meetings of the UN in London, and twice visiting New York HQ. Today, the UN paid its respects: 193 flags lowered and 🇺🇳 flag at half-mast.
