I want to share this new paper I've written, exploring how the firehouse of actions from this administration & Congress has impacted Black households. The focus is on Black households (and its targeting of them), but applies to the U.S. as a whole. bit.ly/45EidLs

Adding to debate about utility or futility of "400K pledge": A virtue, esp. if applied at aggregate level (so not to every taxpayer), is 400K pledge requires IRS to chase both p'ship basis-shifting and EITC fraud. In 2025, it's unclear IRS will do both. x.com/pdriessentax/s…

Cool exercise. Yet it's iffy to combine OBBBA with tariffs but not other Admin policies (e.g., dereg). Maybe a cleaner way to show OBBBA's regressivity & net harm to 80+% of t/ps is to distribute OBBBA & its deficit effect (e.g., see Bill Gale on TCJA). x.com/riccoja/status…

Tax shelter alert: OBBBA causes 29pp drop in tax rate for debt-financed corp non-res manufacturing structures (CRS, R48631). Also relaxed already-weak interest ded limit for easily collateralized structures. Scant debate, just full-throttle tax benefit. Empty buildings in 2033?

We're in uncharted form-over-substance analytical territory with huge tariffs imposed outside the legislative process. For non-legislated tariffs of a certain magnitude, perhaps CBO could routinely produce a distributional table (maybe even by Sep. 12?). x.com/USCBO/status/1…

New from me today: What tax do billionaires pay? The corporate tax, which is a crucial component of the US revenue system at the very top of the income distribution, according to a new study. Link below:

Of note, there are major tax disputes involving big US tax liabilities in Puerto Rico now fomenting, thus there are both broad and country-specific stories. Also usual caveat that big drivers here are MNEs and US tax laws more than this set of nations. x.com/gabriel_zucman…
