A few local golfers played their way into the ⁦Minnesota Golf Association⁩ Men’s state Amateur Championship, during a qualifier at The Jewel in Lake City today: Century’s Brennan Weckwerth, Albert Lea’s Drew Teeter, Lourdes’ Colton Rich & Mayo grad Micah Harber.

It’s not every day a former Rochester Grizzlies player gets invited to an NHL development camp. Congrats to former Grizz goalie, 2021 NA3HL Goalie of the Year and incoming junior at Clarkson, Shane Soderwall, who’s at Utah’s camp this week.

Former Austin Bruins forward and two-time Stanley Cup champ Nico Sturm is (reportedly) coming back to Minnesota. He played for the Wild from 2019-22, and had 18-36—54 for Austin in 2014-15, when the Bs reached the Robertson Cup Finals.

I remember the summer Nick interned in the PB sports department. Ben Pherson and I kept saying “how long til he figures out he’s too good to be here?” Nick probably already knew, but he’s as humble as he is talented. A very much earned and deserved award. Congrats kid!

After two seasons with the Fargo Force in the USHL (17 points in 77 games), #rochmn native Gavin Kor is heading to Canada. He’ll play for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL in 2025-26. Kor also had 149 points in 3 seasons at Shattuck St. Mary’s, from 2020-23.
