The UCSC admin is proactively blocking teaching appointments for grads who were fired for striking, even after their departments recommend them for these appointments. They really are trying to push us out of the university.

ILWU Local 10 did something today that uaw2865 didn't have the courage to do. We need to wield our labor power! #SquashTheBossInsideYourHead #collectiveactiongetsthegoods #justiceforblacklives Grateful for the leadership of ILWU Local 10. We need more of this in the labor movement!

Every worker on campus should strike for unsafe work conditions based on the undergraduate sardine can living arrangements alone. Admins choosing profits over health and safety is the only explanation for this. UCLA Julio Frenk

Wildcat strikers have been informed they are ‘ineligible’ for future employment at UCSC. Admin is denying grad workers employment and effectively pushing strikers out of their graduate programs

Dev (discuss.systems/@dev) UCLA hasn’t given out the summer stipends they had floated (lied about) to stop us from striking either! Learning some real lessons in academic integrity here from @UCLAgraddean and Janet

During a pandemic, @ucihousing is threatening 2 evict students. UC Irvine already increased rent last month & this shows they r trying to circumvent Newsom’s executive order& the judicial council eviction rule. The UC is CHOOSING 2 put profit over ppl #FuckTheUC #UCHatesStudents

6/23: Nothing Personal, Just Business From the prevailing administrative perspective of ERM (“Enterprise Risk Management”), graduate student workers are a living and breathing risk to the UC business model.

UCSC hired cops during a wildcat strike at $300k/day, a daily tab slightly more than our entire strike fund which: fed thousands of people for a month and kept ~40 fired grads paid for 6 months (+a bunch of legal fees, bail money, toilets, first aid, gas, signs, other supplies).

43 people are still dismissed. Many people have been disciplined for protesting. Carlos was dismissed and suspended. As far as I know he is the only person to receive a suspension and the charges are a clear reflection of the racist criminalization of student activists. (1/2)

He was charged for things like appearing "aggressive" or "intimidating". He was *specifically* targeted by the police surveillance (including the use of FBI surveillance systems at the picket line). They constantly had eyes on him and I think we all know why. (2/3)

Retweet if you think its time for a vote of no confidence in @UCPrezDrake? $1m pa, rent free $6m house, $2bn investment in Blackstone that will deepen housing crisis for all who work University of California, accepting a cut in real terms from Governor’s budget despite rising costs 1/2

mishandling #UAWonStrike, not telling campuses where money will come to fund ASE appointments, not providing funds to make up grading work, retrospectively docking pay for faculty and grad students fighting for #FairUCNow and not recognizing all the extra work they routinely do
