The Coventry Chess Academy held its Ninth Anniversary Celebration yesterday!🥳 I couldn't be there due to COVID,😢 but the big day went ahead and was enjoyed by all thanks to our amazing coaches, parents and members. Well done everyone on another fantastic year!👏

1) At today's Matchroom press conference, Erica Farias clearly said that she saw the rematch as unnecessary as she won clearly despite three home judges and the point being taken from her, but took it because she was seduced by the money and opportunity to fight for a title...

...2) According to her interpreter (NOT translator, Eddie), she said it was 'essential and had to be the case' that the rematch took place! And he has notes to help him.👎 Please bring back Ciaran Simpson.

Great weekend with Coventry Chess Academy members at the UK Blitz Championship Qualifier and Warwickshire Rapidplay Championships! Well done to Elis who beat WGM Toma to finish as top female player in the Blitz and scored 3.5/7 in the Rapid, playing GM Hebden in the final round.

Super proud of the Coventry Chess Academy’s Billy Fellowes and Elis Dicen who flew the flag for England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in the European Youth Chess Championships♟️ in Turkey.😊 50% for Billy in the U12 Open and 6th place for Elis in the U12 Girls! Well done both!👏

I love @idboxingnews, but the interpreter really struggled with this and the Estrada/Chocolatito interviews. Ended up making stuff up at times instead of communicating what the fighter was truly saying. TBF, she was in a tough spot as her Spanish is clearly not fluent.
