Rail is not devolved so Wales doesn’t get Barnett consequentials for Rail spend classified as “England and Wales”. Welsh rail investment is at the will or whim of English MPs. Rail must be devolved or we will continue to be run roughshod over.

“How many more times do we let decisions about our nation’s future be made in rooms where Wales doesn’t even have a seat, let alone a voice? It’s not about trains. It’s not even just about money. It’s about the fundamental principle of self-determination.” ✍️ Owen Williams

🚆 I’ve never seen a politics story gain so many views on the Nation Cymru website so quickly. It’s pretty clear that a lot of people in Wales have had enough of being shafted by the UK Treasury when it comes to rail funding. nation.cymru/news/hs2-all-o…

Westminster's welfare cuts will cost Wales millions, and will make people's lives more desperate. Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Merthyr are amongst the areas that'll be hardest hit - but UK Labour still refuse to tell us quite how horrendously badly. Rhaid galw mas y sgandal.

"Life is getting materially worse, but migrants aren’t to blame. We’re letting the political class off the hook. We’ve been failed by our politicians." Jo Grady on Politics Hub with Sophy Ridge tonight, calling out the real causes of the current crisis in the UK.

As the UK Government prepares its spending review, calls are being made for the "inconsistent and unfair designation of major rail projects" to be addressed ✍️Emily Price nation.cymru/news/plaid-cal…

“I've lived in Wales all my life, and let me tell you, Oxford and Cambridge are nowhere near the Welsh border.” Another English rail line has been classified by the Treasury as benefiting Wales. Another farcical chapter in the Great Welsh Train Robbery.

On this day in 1929, Margaret Bondfield became the first woman to serve in the British Cabinet. A trade unionist, feminist and real trailblazer... yet largely forgotten and misunderstood. Time to remember her name. #MargaretBondfield #OnThisDay #LabourHistory

The interception of a peaceful civilian vessel in international waters is a violation of international law. Plaid Cymru calls on the UK Government to break its silence, demand the immediate release of the detained crew, and work to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza.

Nigel Farage wants to reopen coal mines in Wales. Wales had the highest rate of respiratory death in Western Europe due, in part, to our industrial heritage. The mines also devastated our environment and there remains thousands of people living below dangerous coal tips.

Rachel Reeves says she couldn't let another working-class community lose pride and prosperity, so Labour saved Scunthorpe. And yet they let Port Talbot fall without a fight. For Labour, some communities matter more than others.

Welsh Government calculated that Wales’ rail infrastructure has been underfunded to the tune of £2.9bn to £8bn between 2001 and 2029. The UK Government’s answer? Give us £445 million over 10 years. Plaid Cymru won’t welcome crumbs – it’s time for Wales to be properly funded.

Imagine you are owed money but you only get 10% back, but your neighbour up the road gets a massive handout despite not being owed money at all! This is how Wales is feeling this morning after yesterday’s spending commitments on rail infrastructure! Shortchanged again by Labour!

The more you look at it, the more the spending review looks like a bad deal for Wales in terms of rail. Over 4 years Wales gets £348 million (not even a pop share of non-HS2 rail spending). This is only £108 million (45%) more than spending on a single station in Leeds...

I’ve no doubt Reform will open up our landscape for opencast if they lead a government in Wales. Nigel Farage’s policy (they don’t have a Welsh leader) is the opening of pits. Many of these areas are now country parks, including Parc Penallta in Caerffili Reform Party UK Exposed 🇬🇧

It just gets worse & worse for the Labour Welsh Govt. It’s now obvious that the Chancellor’s announcement this week is a poor deal for Wales - an absolutely terrible deal on rail - but now she chucks them under a bus by saying: ‘It’s all they asked for’! bbc.com/news/articles/…
