A film is an editors medium

You’re right too.. but hear me,think of all the work the actors,crew,director etc did on set as ingredients, the editor is a chef that assembles all these ingredients to cook ,the outcome of that food is dependent on the chef,irrespective of the how good the ingredients are

True but I bet they’ll be more than greatful to have an editor who will bring that film to life and even better , director supervises but shouldn’t and wouldn’t want to do and editors job

Also some directors edit their films example Denis Villeneuve, he edited DUNE🌚
