You can see where impressively spiny Ceratocephala got its name, which comes from the Greek for ‘horn head’ #TrilobiteTuesday

#ExploreYourArchive #EYAMystery Have you heard the tale of "The Sheldon Duck"?🦆 In 1601 a duck flew into an Ash tree and never left! Sometime later the "duck tree" was chopped down due to rot at the bottom and this fascinating imprint the size of a real duck was exposed.🌳🪓

Yes, I've shared this image before - and I'll share it again! Easily the most majestic #trilobite I've ever held in my own hands, this remarkable 34 cm long Paradoxides davidis comes from Middle #Cambrian rocks at Manuels River, #Newfoundland, #Canada. #TrilobiteTuesday

An "accidentally rewilded" 377-acre UK farm is now home to many threatened species, including turtle doves, warblers, 11 bat species, orchids + butterflies. Such examples prove how nature can recover when we let it, + that rewilding reverses nature loss. theguardian.com/environment/20…

I didn't realize how big the roots of #pliosaur teeth were. This one is from the Britton Fm (Eagle Ford Group) on the grounds of DFW airport. What a chunker of a #plesiosaur tooth! #FossilFriday #paleontology #fossils #Cretaceous Perot Museum

This #TrilobiteTuesday, one of my favorite Middle Cambrian #trilobites from Manuels River, #Newfoundland: the very rare Anopolenus henrici. Almost complete, but the genal spines (projecting back from the sides of the head) have come off; one of them is lying across the thorax.

Wonderful footage of beavers reinforcing their dam. As ecosystem engineers they excel at building and maintaining dams. When water levels rise or damage occurs, they instinctively repair them within 24–48 hours, keeping habitats resilient and functional. All at no cost to humans.
