This week, Year 3 and 4 learned how a switch works. Using cardboard, split pins and a paper clip, they created their own switches and added them to a circuit with a battery, wire and a bulb. The children had great fun testing their switches to turn the light on and off!

Odd Socks Day marks the start of 'Anti-Bullying Week` and took place on 10th November. It is supported by cBeebies presenter & ABA patron Andy Day and his band 'Andy and the Odd Socks'. Lots of our Pakeman children came out in support of the day with their odd socks!

Ever wondered what happens to the leftover fresh veg from our Food Hub? Our Create Club has been busy chopping, roasting, and creating delicious dishes! Don't forget to stop by the Food Hub on Tuesdays from 2:30pm to pick up fresh veg and recipes!

This week in DT, the Year 1 and 2 children have had a wonderful time creating their own animal puppets. After choosing their favourite animal, the children joined pieces of fabric using a method of their choice - pinning, stapling or gluing before adding animal features!

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Children In Need Non-Uniform Day. We succeeded in raising £120.45 to send off to the charity which is amazing. Well done!

A huge well done to Jack for achieving the Music Mark for Pakeman! The Music Mark of Recognition for Ambition and Quality is an award given to schools by Music Mark, a UK association for music education!

Years 3 and 4 have begun their library visits this year. This week it was Olive Class’s turn. The children chose books, spent time reading, and enjoyed exploring the library.

On Tuesday, some lucky year 5 and 6 Hidden Heroes got to visit Sky Studios. While they were there, they saw Sky News and Sky Sports News being filmed, they had a tour of the amazing buildings and best of all the children were able to film their own news report!

The Mayor of Islington, Jason Jackson, came to visit Pakeman this week and enjoyed a tour of our school with Emma. The mayor has always liked to speak up for others and wants to help make education and opportunities fair for everyone. We enjoyed welcoming him to our school!

A couple of weeks ago, Victoria Ohuruogu, came to visit us at Pakeman. Victoria is an Olympic athlete who won Bronze in Paris 2024, 400m race. Not only did she win an Olympic medal but she also set a national record in the women's 4x400m relay!

The children at playcentre have been having lots of fun over the Autumn term. They held a drawing competition for the best Halloween pictures. Competition lucky winners: Asheena - Olive class Mohamed O - Palm class Kaan - Cedar class Ayaz T - Maple class

Thank you to all Co-Op Members who chose us as their local cause. You have raised £1500 to help our children get away on a school trip to the Lake District! This will make such a difference and create life long memories.

A huge thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for organising Auntie’s Kitchen at Pakeman. This week, they created the most delicious lunch for everyone as they embraced a celebration of Black heritage and flavours. Special thanks to Angela also!

Thanks to all our staff and children for all their additional creativity this week which has gone into making our school hall look so sparkly and festive.

UEFA trophy comes to Pakeman! Last week, the Arsenal team brought the Women's Champion's League trophy to Pakeman! It was so exciting to see and hold such a fantastic achievement! It reminded us all of the importance of not giving up and always believing in yourself x

Year 5 and 6 have been learning about Earth and Space this half term. This week, they used Oreos to represent the different phases of the moon.

Children in Years 1/2 created their ownstained glass for their RE lessons and they look stunning on the classroom windows. Beautiful work!

Our Pakeman gardeners have worked hard through every season and, for Marcia, have been such a pleasure to work with. They will be really missed as the gardening group start up again in spring with a new team of budding gardeners.

Year 5/6 are lucky to be working currently with professional poet, Paul Lyalls. Known for his funny, moving, and imaginative poetry, Paul encourages young writers to explore their own voices.

Our Hidden Heroes had a fantastic time visiting the Caledonian Park Clock Tower, also known as the Cally Clock Tower. They discovered fascinating facts about the 170 year old tower and learned that it was once part of a busy meat market!
