Periodic reminder that the founding myth of Tenochtitlan had no snake. That was a colonial era addition. All original Mexica sculptural works have the eagle with a glyph near its beak that symbolizes war. The glyph looks like a ribbon, which can be easily modified into a snake.

RAYOS, CORRIENTES DE AGUA Y RÁFAGAS DE VIENTO Eran concebidos por los pueblos mesoamericanos como serpientes de muy diversa índole. Aquí una de las esculturas mexicas en forma de ofidio que actualmente está restaurando Juan Cruz Hernández del Proyecto Templo Mayor-INAH.
