I don't know about LeBron in particular. But a plausible lesson of Trump's electoral success is that, when the voter base is divided 50/50 & margins are usually small, picking someone known & liked by people who don't follow politics can be a big help. freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/lebron-james…

Justice David Souter has passed away at 85. Of all the Justices on the Court when I was a law clerk, he was the one about whom my opinion improved the most during the year of my clerkship. Agree or disagree w/him on the merits, but he had great integrity. nytimes.com/2025/05/09/us/…

When I was a law clerk, Justice Souter had a lunch with a bunch of law clerks for other Justices and said something that always struck me. Souter said that his first Term or two on the Supreme Court was the hardest because he had little background in the kinds of federal law
