Did you know that the word Texas came from the Caddo word táyshaʔ (friend/ally)? Their territory was known as the kingdom of Tejas by the Spaniards, which turned into Texas. The Kiowas used to call the captives they adopted Tejan, I recall both males and females had that name.

Increasingly I wonder if there is an argument that allows progressives to save face on stuff like this, which is basically just that when the country is 90% white and the average white male is doing fine, then maybe you can sort of understand these kinds of policies, in which the
