What is yedoma, & why does it matter? Today's Arctic term to know is a type of permafrost. As Arctic warming & extreme events like #wildfire cause permafrost to thaw, yedoma releases large amounts of greenhouse gases- further warming the planet & exacerbating climate change.

What can the Arctic Council do to address wildland fires? The co-leads of the Wildland Fires Initiative 🔥, @ArcticSAONorway & @DinjiiZhuh, sat down for a conversation on how the Council can contribute its expertise to tackle this complex and multifaceted issue.

As traffic in the Arctic increases, so does the risk for accidents. In 2011, Arctic States signed an agreement on search & rescue in the Arctic to improve cooperation & coordination in the case of incidents. Our Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response Working Group supports & implements the agreement.
