In keeping with all the experts in various fields being challenged, I hereby demand that Michael Beschloss NOT engage me in a debate because -- ...even though I majored in history in college... ...he would kick my ass.

I just picked up this book from my local library by Janet Horvath (Janet Horvath) [They recently acquired a copy based on my request.] Compelling reading so far, with a story that must have been difficult to write. Highly recommended!

Saw "Samson & Delilah last night operacolorado. Mediocre singing of an uninspiring opera. Saint-Saens is an excellent orchestrator but an insipid vocal writer. One each decent aria + duet, nice ballet. No surprise his other 9 operas are NEVER performed. Nice sets and lighting!

Last night's The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra St. Paul Chamber Orchestra concert with Richard Goode was spectacular! Two Mozart piano concertos, Nos. 18 and 23, played with nuance, and JOY! Three well-deserved curtain calls.

Attended Central City Opera Central City Opera's 7/31 performance of Puccini's "La fanciulla del West." Great matinee crowd, terrific orchestra (as usual). Kara Thompson (Minnie) and Grant Youngblood (Jack Rantz) were decent. Standouts: Christopher Job and Matthew Cossack.
