#Design is in the Details. In plan & section we based #tykesonhall #spatial organization on Golden Section proportions. We laid out facade cladding systems on 1’, 4’ & 8’ modules w/attention to geometric alignments for a unified composition. #architect #architectural #terracotta

#Architectural #terracotta: #Design is in the Details. For cost effectiveness we chose single neutral-beige #clay & designed 5 custom #glazes instead of using more costly individual through-body molds. Matte finish accentuates changes in light for desired aesthetics. #tykesonhall

Tempering use of energy was crucial to #tykesonhall. Sustainably sourced #clay materials like #terracotta & #brick have some of the lowest embodied energy & reduce #environmental impact generating the least CO2 in production compared to other commonly-used #building materials.
