Thoughts are nothing more than words projected into our minds. Just because they show up, doesn't mean they're important. #ocd #ocdrecovery #mindfulness #mindfultherapy #MentalHealthAwareness #mentalhealthtips #ocdtips #ocdtherapy

If you have a thought like "those people might hate me," and you are unwilling to accept the presence of that thought or the possibility that people might hate you, then you all of your attention will go toward getting rid of those thoughts and resolving uncertainty. #ocd

Erasing feelings isn't realistic. Trying to wrangle, manage and control them only serves to distract us from what's important and to cause more distress. If we focus, instead, on allowing for emotions, we can get better at living in their presence and get back to what matters.

You can face challenges. You can do things - even things that you believe are too difficult. You can face your fears and come out the other side better for having come across them. #anxiety #ocd #anxietyrecovery #anxietytherapy #anxious #mentalhealthawareness #youcandoit

If you beat yourself up to get to some end result, then no matter the result, you likely won't feel good about how you go there. The how is everything in life. It's how we build pride in ourselves and contentment. #values #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #mentalhealth

You don't have to accept that you will always think or feel something because thoughts and feelings are constantly changing, whether you're aware of it or not. #ocd #anxiety #mentalhealth #ocdrecovery #anxietyrecovery #ocdtwt

It may be strange to realize that worrying is done in an attempt to alleviate worry, but that's exactly its aim. Unfortunately, worrying doesn't get rid of the feeling of worry or anxiety. It only serves to perpetuate it. #anxiety #anxietydisorders #anxietyrecovery #anxious

If you're not kind to yourself, then you won't find joy in your success. If you berate yourself into achieving, you'll always see your accomplishments as things you could have done better rather than appreciating what you did. #selfcompassion #selfkindness #perfectionism

Life can be so difficult! Having a laugh at the insanity of it all can help to lighten the weight of the pain. #mentalhealth #ocd #anxiety #ocdrecovery #anxietyrecovery #ocdtherapy #anxietytherapy

If things are tough, remember: you are not alone. When we join together in the face of challenges - when we acknowledge our pain and others bear witness to it - then the tough things become just a little less tough. #ocd #obsessivecompulsivedisorder

If you think you're having intrusive thoughts all day, most of the "all day" experience probably involves ruminating. Intrusive thoughts are automatic. Ruminating is a behavior that you can change. When you learn to spot and drop rumination, you get a lot of your life back. #ocd

If someone doesn't understand your experience with OCD and has expressed an unwillingness to learn, then you are under no obligation to keep entrusting them as you navigate challenges. Boundaries are key! #ocd #obsessivecompulsivedisorder

Thoughts are just words or images in the mind. It makes sense to decide whether they deserve our attention or any sort of behavioral response. Ultimately, though, we won't know for certain if our decision is "right." We can only ever make our best guess. #ocd #pureo #pureocd

We all experience feelings that we'd prefer not to have all the time. If you notice them and accept them, they will naturally come and go. If you resist them and wish them away, they will become your central focus and will seem bigger. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness

It's normal to be anxious. We live in a very anxiety-provoking world. It's not anxiety that gets us into trouble, per se, but the things we do to try to avoid anxiety. If we let anxiety be present then it isn't a problem at all. #anxiety #anxious #therapy #mentalhealth

Feeling discomfort is part of being alive. Sometimes discomfort indicates an issue that needs to be addressed, but it, in and of itself, is not a problem that needs to be solved. When it comes to feelings, our problems start with the idea that discomfort is a problem. #anxiety

The question "What does that mean?" can be a dangerous one for people with OCD. That's because trying to find absolute certainty about meaning often keeps people stuck. #OCD #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #pureo #pureocd #harmocd #rocd #sexualorientationocd #relationshipocd #pocd

Trying to get rid of #panic makes panic worse. If you're noticing a #panicattack coming on, the best thing that you can do is to non-judgmentally notice the experience. If you practice this - i.e. you essentially accept panic - then the feeling can rise and fall more easily.
