As Work Zone Awareness Week wraps up, we're reminded why it matters year-round. Last Friday, in Schenectady, a vehicle crashed into a work zone. The attenuator did its job and saved lives. No serious injuries—but it could’ve been much worse. Slow down. Stay alert. Move over.

SLOW DOWN - It only adds an extra 25 seconds to slow down for the average work zone & helps to make sure we get home to our families tonight. Speeding is the #1 cause of work zone crashes & the time you save ISN'T worth risking the lives of those working to keep our roads safe.

Thunderstorms today will focus upon the afternoon through early evening hours. While damaging wind gusts are the primary hazard, large hail and isolated tornado also remain possible. Make sure you have a way to receive any severe thunderstorm warnings that are issued today. #nywx

This is who we’re fighting for. Workers. Families. Friends. Neighbors. When you see a work zone - Slow down, stay alert, and move over if possible.   Because every single one of these lives is worth it. #WorkersMemorialDay #WorkZoneAwareness
