Last week, two NYPD Chief of Transit Public Safety Officers arrested a thief for jostling a subway passenger’s backpack. Thanks to their swift response, the passenger kept her belongings and the would-be thief was arrested!

Two thieves thought they could get away with stripping a stolen vehicle and loading the parts into their car in the Bronx. Fortunately, our vigilant NYPD Chief of Transit Anti-Terrorism Unit cops were nearby, observed what was happening, and arrested them before they could get away.

We understand subway riders in NYC are a fast-moving bunch, but we appreciate those who took a few moments out of their commute to speak to our Bronx Transit team on various safety and crime prevention measures. Great community engagement!

Sergeant Kassebaum and Officers Haque and Crespo from NYPD Chief of Transit were conducting a train inspection at the Times Square Station when multiple straphangers alerted them of a pickpocket riding the 7 train. With no delay, the trio made the arrest and recovered stolen property.

While riding the train, NYPD Chief of Transit officers spotted a robbery in progress at the Elmhurst Ave station. They swiftly intervened and arrested the suspect, a repeat offender, before he could flee.

Shortly after a straphanger’s phone was almost taken from her, Police Officer Fermin of your District 33 team was on the case - searching the surrounding area and quickly tracking down the teenage culprits. Well done!

Transit cops are renowned for spotting a face in a sea of faces. Sharp eyes and great alertness by these officers when they recognized a man wanted for groping a straphanger last month. Quick work and an impactful apprehension by this District 1 team.

Stand clear of the closing [jail cell] doors, please. As the weekend rolled in, our Manhattan NYPD Chief of Transit Response Team was vigilantly patrolling the Delancey Street Station and saw a man jump the turnstile. They quickly realized he was wanted for a rape and arrested him.

Some heads up transit policing leads to another gun off our system (and our streets). ⤵️⤵️

Due to police activity, avoid the area of West 86th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Expect emergency vehicles in the surrounding area, and potential transit and traffic-related delays.

Angela “Angie” Glenn, an NYCT Subway Security Officer and a US Army veteran, has been a longtime fixture at an MTA building in Brooklyn. Chief Gulotta presented her with a certificate of appreciation and challenge coin for her many years of service. Good luck, we’ll miss you!

While working midnight train patrol in NYC, NYPD Chief of Transit Officers Olsen and Byeon encountered an individual unconscious, showing signs of a possible overdose. The partners each administered one dose of naloxone, ultimately helping the aided become responsive and alert.

At exactly 10:13 this morning, in the shadow of the Freedom Tower - 2 and 4-legged runners from the Transit Bureau set off on the 23rd annual NYPD Memorial 5k run. A gorgeous day for a worthwhile cause!

Every day, NYPD Chief of Transit officers are strategically deployed in the subway system to ensure that New Yorkers reach their destinations safely. While on patrol, officers observed a man evading the fare. After a brief struggle, they took him into custody and recovered a loaded gun.

Subway surfing is a reckless act that has already taken the lives of too many young New Yorkers. Watch and share this PSA with those you care about. One conversation could save a life.
