The document admits vaping is safer than smoking, and helps smokers quit. And then goes on to propose bans that treat nicotine vaping and deadly cigarettes the same way. This is very odd.

The thing public health always gets wrong: They think that banning stuff makes stuff go away. It's important to learn from history. Prohibition doesn't make stuff go away. It drives stuff underground where it may be less safe, and will (obviously) be sold with no age checks.

It still blows my mind that private parties, working outside the aegis of any institution, developed a cure for smoking addiction, and the response from the institutions was to try to ban it.

Kevin Eddie, Father of Two Institutions don't *want* to stop smoking. They *want* to ban nicotine. Vaping terrifies them because it doesn't self-limit the way smoking does.

The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠

What has history taught us about making a legal product illegal? Was there enough good to out weigh the bad? Can these same things happen if menthol cigarettes are banned? Are lawmakers taking this into consideration?

This verdict, whilst I realise will probably go to appeal, renews my faith that the rot has not got to the core of America. May it regenerate the cause of justice and fairness and equality for all. Its gonna take a lifetime but I hope it happens.

Harm Reduction Helps not Harms Here's a thought, maybe the NZ Govt could stop attacking people who smoke and instead focus upon the social determinants that drive smoking behavior

“It makes no sense to ban e-cigarettes, but permit the sale of tobacco and cannabis,” says Steve Schroeder, a physician, professor of medicine at the University of California at San Francisco and the former president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. marcgunther.medium.com/these-bans-on-…
