I also reminded them of the NRM’s strategic goals in public affairs; prosperity for all the people, strategic security and emphasizing the fraternity of the African people not tribes or religion.

For us in NRM, we said, to be in public affairs, you must be clear why you’re there. Journalists should not involve themselves in public matters if they don’t know.

On getting families involved in the money economy, I was happy to hear that journalists have come together and formed groups in the form of saccos to benefit from government wealth creation programs. I will engage the cabinet and see how to support them financially.

It is always a joy for me to witness another cohort of graduates accomplish a key milestone in their education journey. I, therefore, extend my warmest congratulations to all the Makerere University graduates for their hard work and determination in completing this phase.

I also want to acknowledge the University Council for its new strategic plan aimed at increasing the enrolment of graduate students. This plan addresses the need for highly skilled professionals in the economy and higher education institutions.

The government is committed to supporting efforts to improve the research and learning environment and to turn Makerere University into a research-led institution, with the resources available.

Graduates, Makerere University has equipped you with knowledge and skills. I encourage you to use these tools to further your careers and contribute to society.

My prayer for you is that you have the wisdom to take the necessary steps, with humility and grace, to fulfill your divine purpose in life.

I was delighted to meet H.E. Jewel Howard Taylor, the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, who visited me at State House Entebbe. We discussed matters of mutual interest. I wish her a good stay in Uganda

I received credentials from newly appointed ambassadors of South Sudan, France, Egypt, Iran, Turkey,Equatorial Guinea & the Sahrawi Republic. I told them Uganda is keen on fostering good relations and trade with their nations.

I met H.E Senator Fortune Charumbira, President of the Pan African Parliament(PAP) at State House, Entebbe.  I am happy that Uganda has been chosen to host the next sitting of PAP in October this year.

I however challenged them to build Unity among the people of Africa to solve the problem of prosperity and strategic security on the continent.

Whilst they don’t have the sovereign powers to govern Africa, they do have the power of Advocacy which they should use to defeat the wrong ideology of parochialism.

I met two teams from the USA and UK representing the Ugandan diaspora. We had a meaningful engagement about the socio-economic transformation of our people living in the diaspora.

I told the group that Uganda presents more opportunities to be prosperous ; because the demand for goods and services are high and the supply is low. The other factor is that the cost of doing business is much lower than where they are in the UK and USA.

I attended the African Union Development Authority(AUDA) virtual Summit this afternoon chaired by His Excellency Paul Kagame. I congratulate his Excellency for completing his term of office.

AUDA’s mandate is good & should be funded because it plays a big role like giving African Countries technical advice on crucial issues & coordinating the implementation of some of the selected regional projects. It also helps promote strategic security among African Countries.

I pledged to ensure the authority is funded as it has helped to promote and cement brotherhood among African Countries.
