Today our 6th graders served breakfast to the faculty and staff honor of #TeacherAppreciationDay. What a beautiful way to start the day. Our teachers are amazing, and they deserve to be celebrated every day!

Friday we celebrated Grandparents & Special Friends day - first time in 3 years! Performances, art show & activities were a huge hit. Popcorn Parade was by far a favorite. Most meaningful to me was chatting with grandparents & special friends I’ve been hearing about for weeks!

Today I had the first of two ‘Head of School for the day’ students! Among the flurry of activities today: he approved extra recess, signed check requests, ordered a school wide nap time, and gave teachers raises. More of this please!

Weekend of fun, done! 2nd Head of School for the day on Fri w/dance parties. Sleep Under Fri night at school for 11 1st, 2nd & 3rd grdrs w/epic hide & seek. Dog walk & ice cream w/2 kinders & 2nd grader on Sat. Finishing off w/school Sleepover w/ 7 4th & 5th grders=movies & chaos

While kids are anxious about “making” friends, parents are often just as anxious about same thing. It’s tough to imagine your child not having many friends, especially if you had a hard time w/ friendships. Adjusting the conversation from “making” friends to “finding” is key.

At an indoor track meet in college, I was running the 200m and as I took the banked curve I almost ran into the wall because I saw ME! I’m still shook! 😂

Tomorrow is the first day of school! I’m excited for our students and parents who will surely have an incredible year. I’m also thinking about our awesome faculty and staff who have work so hard to be prepared for the students we are privileged to educate. Here we go!!!

Today at a game, a parent introduced me to a dad from the visiting team. Their older kids are at the same school. The dad shared that the grads from my school are the nicest he has met in the new 7th grd. I love that our grads are strong students, I love more that they are kind.

We often call our school “Magical.” The deep sense of community is one of the reasons. Yesterday’s STEM Day is one example as every faculty & staff member and over 90 parent volunteers together created an unforgettable day of workshops, activities, exploration & fun!

What an outstanding second day at the ESHA Retreat. Our visit to UCDS was inspiring. Thank you to the incredible teachers and admin for hosting us and sharing your school. I can’t wait to share a Math Vitamin or two with my staff!

A month ago, 3 2nd graders approached me about an idea: Dirt Day! Plans included rolling around in dirt. After many planning meetings w/compromises, we celebrated our first Dirt Day today. It was a hit! I’m so proud of our students’ creativity, initiative, tenacity & flexibility.

This platform has issues, but over the years I have benefited from many nuggets of wisdom, strategies for teaching & learning and PD resources shared here by other incredible educators. We don't often push PE inside, but I’ll be passing this on to our PE team. Thank you!
