As a professional woman, and an IBD parent, it is a mistake to not laser focus on scientific advances and improving outcomes for IBD patients. There is an opportunity cost to studying, writing, and conference time on these types of topics, and that is not talking about what

5 years ago, we saw lack of an IBD patient movement in India as an opportunity to create a local, community led effort to change things. People who view advocacy as a business however saw a market to capitalize on. Equity and inclusion are a facade. Hope things improve in future.

My attempts to make something of myself with Crohn's, Ostomy and Cancer in an unaccommodating ecosystem have stripped me of everything I identified with. How strong can one be? I'm only human. Sometimes, maybe a lot of times, skill and hard work aren't enough. #makeIndiaIBDaware

Getting a #colonoscopy when you #IBD carries a distinct set of challenges and trauma compared to the average person receiving a colon cancer screening scope. How best to support patients + loved ones: lightscameracrohns.com/2024/12/23/the…

Much thanks to EFCCA for covering my journey as a patient and a founder/director IBD India in their Feb 2025 magazine. And extra thanks for producing one of the most accurate version of my story. Page 32 at efcca.org/sites/default/…

As my health continues to deteriorate, I'm worried whether IBD India will sustain, but I'm a bit more hopeful since past few days, as more community members are taking steps and asking questions about what needs to be done for things to change. I hope the spirit sustains.

Great writing and one of the best things I've read in a long time. "For solidarity, I search for disability stories. But I feel lonelier than ever when I find them." "These social media stories make it appear that disabled people who can access community are the majority."
