READING ALOUD to children of ALL ages improves processing skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. It also helps audio learners. Research shows that adults who read aloud motivate children. Refusing to read to a child because they can 'read for themselves now' does the opposite.

Doesn’t matter what time of year it is if you tell a British person you have a cold they’ll tell you there’s one going round

The thing people often don’t talk about in teaching is how much of it is a performance. No matter what’s going on in your life you stand up in front of those kids and perform and if you’re ill or something challenging is going on in your personal life, that’s exhausting.
