A couple railway cats here in Ely.

We washed the boiler and “mud ring” out of our Locomotive 93. The mud ring is an area where the solids that build up in the boiler settle and concentrate. We’re hoping to have 93 back in service in a few weeks.

Wells, Nevada at one time had three railroads serving it. In this photo, the old Southern Pacific is going east-west. The remains of the bridge supports in the background was the Union Pacific’s branch line from Twin Falls, Idaho. Behind me is the old Western Pacific’s mainline.

Using a lathe for wheels in the machine shop today that apparently hasn’t been used in a decade or so.
