Beautiful Holy Trinity church in Little Ouseburn near York. This is the church Anne Bronte attended whilst governess at nearby Thorp Green Hall, its vicar was the hall's owner Edmund Robinson although he never carried out a Sunday service there. Photos courtesy of Mark Davis.

A beautiful photo of Haworth taken this week by Bronte country photographer Mark Davis. A tourist hotspot now, it wasn't quite as picturesque in the time of the Brontes.

Margaret Wooler, seen her in old age, was first Charlotte Bronte's teacher, then employer, then good friend and it was Margaret who gave Charlotte away at her wedding.

#otd 1861 Patrick Bronte died in Haworth, where he'd been curate for over 40 years. Patrick outlived his wife and all six of his children, but his three youngest daughters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte, ensure that his name lives on forever.

#otd 1850 Charlotte Bronte met her childhood hero the Duke of Wellington, then 81. In a letter afterwards she called him "a real grand old man." Charlotte also bought this miniature iron replica of Wellington, the Iron Duke.

St. Peter's church, Hartshead in Yorkshire. This is where Patrick Bronte was curate when he married Maria Branwell and when his first two children, Maria and Elizabeth Bronte, were born.

#otd 1572 the great Ben Jonson was born. A playwright of genius, he was often in trouble with the authorities. On 9 October 1605 he dined on The Strand with Robert Catesby, Thomas Winter and Francis Tresham. Less than a month later they were at the heart of the gunpowder plot

A beautiful Charlotte Bronte poem beautifully illustrated on the June entry of the Bronte poetry calendar given to me by Belgian artist Marina Saegerman.

#otd 1850 Charlotte Bronte sat for this portrait by society artist George Richmond. Her friends didn't like it. Mary Taylor said it flattered Charlotte too much and Ellen Nussey said it was too severe.

This is an image of Lousy Thorn Farm in Hartshead, West Yorshire, before it became a ruin. It was here that Patrick Bronte initially lived when minister at Hartshead church, and here where he lived when he married Maria Branwell in 1812.

A photo of the beautiful Scarborough Castle I took in 2018. Anne Bronte loved it and the views it offered, and she is buried at the foot of it in the annexe of St Mary's church.

In my latest House Of Bronte video I leave my home office behind and head to the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth to take an in depth look at the dining room where the Bronte sisters ate, laughed and created works of genius: youtube.com/watch?v=YM36NP…
