For folks attending the NVIDIA GTC conference next week, here is an invite to the quantum happy hour organized by IonQ, Amazon Bracket and Ansys. I won't be there unfortunately but it should be an interesting crowd.

New paper out: We design quantum error schemes for long chains of trapped ions and new quantum LDPC codes that outperform state-of-the-art codes. Thank you Min Ye for the fantastic work! arxiv.org/abs/2503.22071

Excited for the Les Houches workshop on fault-tolerant quantum computing next week. I will speak about our latest work, to appear next week on the arxiv. Thank you Nicolas Sangouard & Jérémie Guillaud for the invitation!

I had a lot of fun working on our new paper with Edwin Tham: It contains a partial error correction scheme, optimization algorithms, a group action, the Grassmannian and even an experiment on a trapped ion quantum computer with break even performance! arxiv.org/abs/2504.13356

You couldn’t make it to the FTQC summit? We got you: we’ve been cooking up summaries from the talks ✍️🧠 Logical qubits have been built, developments are happening fast across our field, and many diverse angles for error correction are being tested in parallel. The more theory

20 years ago, at Yale University University, we first read out the #quantum state of a superconducting #qubit by measuring the state-dependent frequency shift which a qubit exerts on a microwave frequency #resonator. This dispersive readout mechanism is enabled by the strong, but

I’m glad to see some sensible advice on this. I started full time in Horizon just after turning 37, and I was able to build the company primarily because I had gone through college and grad school and spent years doing research to become expert in an emerging technology.
