Even if you don't read my blog (why not???), you should read the comments. Somehow my blog attracts people who are much more interesting & insightful than me about literature. The below are about Laclos's "Dangerous Liaisons": thelittlewhiteattic.blogspot.com/2024/09/danger… thelittlewhiteattic.blogspot.com/2024/08/danger…

All the great books I read have had an impact on me, but: - "Anna Karenina" started my lifelong love* for Tolstoy & Russian literature - "Macbeth" gave me the Shakespeare bug, incurable *: can't imagine it going away.

I have always thought "Wuthering Heights" is impossible to bring off on screen, but Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff & Margot Robbie to play Cathy??? Are you mad??? variety.com/2024/film/news…

This is what people talk about when they want to talk about Shakespeare but have nothing to say about literary merit, interpretation, or the English language.

For a long time, I didn't watch it because it started the whole craze &, let's be honest, the Janeite industry & the fandom are very annoying. But it really is an excellent adaptation of "Pride & Prejudice".
