Chapter 3….

Parking here to pick up a cake for my baby’s 5th birthday. He will always be my baby so will park here on his 10th, 15, 20, 25th, 30th, 55th….

Two things confirmed this week.

✅ I am proud to be a South Asian criminal defence lawyer

✅ I am not really a Swiftie.

As my 4 year old had the biggest meltdown I have ever dealt with in the bathroom of a museum, another mother whispered to me -“you are doing great” and those were just words I needed to hear in that moment. I don’t know who she is but I am grateful.

Today my husband and I learned that the song 'Bonne Fete Antoine' is actually 'Bonne Fete a Toi'. We have gone to a lot of birthday parties in Quebec.....oops....

Watching Oppenheimer is an exercise in 'What's that guy from again? That movie about that thing....? Do you remember?'

Really proud of my husband for buying this parantha making kit online and working with my mom (their text chatter is 😂🔥) to perfect the process. Trying to reassure him that no one’s paranthas taste the same and that will develop his own unique style.

Have you ever truly been a lawyer parent until you have stepped out of a courtroom at 4:57 pm, ordered food from an app for your kids (yes, I know I seem far from the delivery place), walked kids through how to receive the delivery and eat, and stepped back into court unphased?

My law clerk gave me this notebook a few years ago with this message inside it.

At a kid’s birthday party where I am relegated to being called “k’s mom”. “Hey K’s mom! Can I have some water?”

New associate.

Went out for dinner. Sent my husband a pic of my delicious meal - steak, cabbage, onions, in carrot butter. Turned off my phone. Was surprised to open it to so many 🍆emojis. Then I figured it out.

Thanks a latte for the morning inspiration.

Mr. Peanut does not have a spat. That’s not a thing.

Bets on how long this will last in my house as soon as the kids come down the stairs and lay their eyes on it.

Being a lawyer is not easy. Owning a small business is definitely not easy. Small business ownership has been quite a ride, and I reflect on 10(!) years of it. 10! Holy moly.

Current status: really disappointed (mom word) with whichever kid or spouse dug into the dessert …without even taking it out of the box. (Wasn’t me)

Easter Weekend happiness in the #bywardmarket

A few exciting things. I stayed home with a sick kid and we had ice cream sundaes for lunch. And I got my personal taxes in to my accountant and am waiting for my trophy 🏆
