I really hate how Black women and our stories aren’t deemed “interesting” on reality tv unless they are EXTRA LOUD, super over the top and shit starters. Dont get me wrong i understand drama is a necessary element of reality tv and people love mess. But…

Is it the audience or the production companies? Do people wanna watch realistic (drama and struggle always happens regardless) feel good, relatable reality tv centered around black women or is that boring?

I hate how production companies and streamers package “black reality” and “white reality” so differently. It’s disgusting really.

Like Got Damn, can we see some sisterhood stories, got it out the mud, working towards healthy or healing relationship journey, renaissance woman but still human black woman reality tv please.

The things I’ve learned, heard and experienced in this industry… man yall have no idea. It’s really motivated me to one day have a network of my own. We were hoping for the best from Oprah , but…

It just really baffles me that black women are probably one of the biggest consumers in the media market. Yet our stories are the most marginalized

It really makes me think of the Kardasiams for example. you definitely can’t knock their hustle. They’ve created an empire however, their storylines on the show are dramatic in someways, but clearly overly produced no one has to be overly loud, start fights.

None of them have an oversized personality. Same with the millions of real estate shows on Netflix (outside of the selling sunset franchise) real milktose.

Give us an option to watch something different.

There has been successful black reality that was more positive: TI family hustle, runs house? Are we past that? Is that stuff of the past? No one is interested?

Lauren Speed Both. Look at LIB. The ratings for Season 6 significantly increased due to the amount of drama. Specifically, drama involving a black woman. People tune in to what they want to watch and unfortunately, the audience for healthy, relatable content is very small.

I’ve never watched Love Island. But i hear about it a lot. Believe it or not i don’t tend to watch much dating reality.

I guess reality tv fans just want mess?
