The Holy Pineapple - I'm sorry I never got to see the Church of Christ the King in Bowburn, County Durham. This modern church was built in 1963-69 to a low-budget design by Harold Wharfe. It stood without a roof for three years before the futuristic dome was completed.

Memorial window to Charles Hodgson Fowler, who died on this day in 1910. Fowler was architect to Durham, Lincoln and Rochester Cathedrals.

On St Cuthbert's Day, one of the finest churches dedicated to the Northumbrian saint was designed by by E.R. Robson and built in Durham in 1858-63.

Darlington's brutalist town hall (1967-70), designed by Borough Architect Eric Tornbohm and the important North-East practice Williamson, Faulkner Brown & Partners.

Someone on the Other Place identified the churches in our earlier posting so here are 2 more. Both from Clarke's archive so probably SE Wales. I feel I should know the Romanesque arch but I can't place it.

The spectacular Romanesque interior of All Saints' Church, Woodlands, a miners' model village near Doncaster. The church was designed by Durham architect C.H. Fowler in 1908 and revised by his successor W.H. Wood in 1911-3.
