Day 04 of the Fall FTX concluded the new cadets’ introduction to military life. After completing the Leadership Reaction Course, they got some well-deserved rest on the bus ride back to ND. The cadets then received their Fightin’ Irish Battalion patches and took the Cadet Oath.

Today we remember the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001. Though the attacks happened twenty years ago, their memories live on in the minds of Americans and people across the globe.

This summer, CDT Belin went to the West Point Military Academy for an internship with the Army Cyber Institute. There, she worked with the Jack Voltaic Research Project, an exercise created to help cities around the US practice their response plans to cyberattacks.

Congratulations to the latest CDTs to contract this past Tuesday! CDT Barhydt of TX is studying Civil Engineering, CDT Mahoney of PA is studying Environmental Science, CDT Savidge of VA is studying Chemical Engineering, and CDT Stewart of OH, is studying Mechanical Engineering.

Both permanent members of progressive PT their senior year, 1LT Michael Deasey & 1LT Michael Weeks graduated with the Class of 2016. Despite going their separate ways, both are now serving as part of JSOC in areas throughout the Middle East. It’s a small world & a smaller Army!

An ND Class of 2021 and Fightin’ Irish BN alumnus, it’s no surprise that LT Bowden graduated on the Commandant’s List of his IBOLC class. He’ll soon complete the Stryker Leader’s Course, and in January he’ll go to Ranger School before reporting to the 2nd. Cavalry RGT in Germany.

Despite Halloween having passed, the Fightin’ Irish Battalion wanted to keep the spirits alive one more day. Halloween PT consisted of a circuit workout of themed body-weight exercises and cardio training, finishing with a Squad relay race competition for a candy prize.

Everyone knew ND was going to beat Navy, so on the weekend of 5-7NOV, Ranger CO went to FT Knox to participate in the 7 BDE Bold Warrior Competition. Tackling numerous physical, mental, & military skills challenges, they placed 7/37 teams & earned their day off of Monday PT.

Each year, we honor the legacy of alumnus LT Patrick Dixon, who died in combat in the Vietnam War. Tuesday, SQDs completed the Dixon Challenge, competing in physical & mental challenges throughout the day. Ultimately, BCO 1SQD took the win, having won 3/4 past years’ trophies!

Congratulations to Cadets Morse, Ralston, Karmazin-Schneider, O’Gara, Weber, and Foster for officially contracting and taking the Cadet Oath last week!
