Today, the Department of Social Development, SASSA and the NDA, are hosting Ministerial Integrated Community Registration and Outreach Programme (ICROP) in celebration of Child Protection Month in Manguzi, Umhlabuyalingana

Minister Sisisi Tolashe, is joined by the NDA Board Chairperson, Ms Ruth Bhengu, SASSA ACEO ,Mr Themba Matlou and NDA ACEO Mr Thabani Buthelezi, to engage the local leadership and the community of uMakhanyakude.

Umhlabuyalingana is one of the five local municipalities that comprise uMakhanyakude District. It’s located in northern KwaZulu-Natal along the boarder with Mozambique to the north.

The alarming fact is that 47% of the economically active population (out of a total of 52%) receives either no income, or less than R1600 per month.
