Motivation: allocation of attention 2 tasks linked to value (utility, instrinsic) combined wth expectations (competency beliefs, predicting outcomes) over cost (attention, emotion, effort, opportunity) within wider culture (norms, reinforcement, situational cues, self theories)

Inductive: Premise is to the data rather than allegiance to a theory. Frequency counting of measurable and observable responses, fluency monitoring of learning skills/ knowledge, precise and targeted observation schedules. Crucial to increasing sensitivity to contexts.

Highly recommend, especially 4 course tutors & trainee EPs looking 2 evaluate interventions that are already taking place in schools. Plus, critique of significance testing when assumptions are not met (which they rarely are) & suggesting ways forward in terms of research design.
