Happy to share the final version of our paper, showing how essential invasion machinery is deployed by our most deadly malaria parasite to burrow its way into our red blood cells. Proud of the team! Thanks to @Wellcome for funding to make it possible. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Thrilled to announce AlphaFold 3 which can predict the structures and interactions of nearly all of life’s molecules with state-of-the-art accuracy including proteins, DNA and RNA. Biology is a complex dynamical system so modeling interactions is crucial blog.google/technology/ai/…

Thanks Trends in Parasitology for highlighting our structure-guided design of PfRH5-based vaccines. In particular, PfRH5.2 which combines truncations from Wright et al (2014) and mutations from Campeotto et al (2017). Good to see it outperforming PfRH5.1! cell.com/trends/parasit…

One of my favourite proteins! It’s fantastic to see how structure-guided approaches are producing such impressive results!

The capability for producing "mirror life" is out there and poses danger. When some scientists who worked on this became aware, they stopped pursuing it, and co-authored this piece, along with over 30 leading scientists—a Science Magazine policy forum that lays out the risks

Our latest story describes the amazing evolutionary battle between malaria parasite and human. The parasite evolved RIFINs to bind inhibitory KIR receptors and suppress immune cell function while humans have activating KIR receptors to bind these RIFINs to kill parasites!

Delighted to share the final version of Richard Zhou's study on how the CD163 scavenger receptor cleans up after toxic haemoglobin spills out from our blood cells. An amazing grabber mechanism! rdcu.be/ewPA2
