It was a pleasure to co-host a panel discussion with Leicester Secular Society last week on ending #caste discrimination. Huge thanks to Councillor Sahdaish Pall BEM, Dalit Solidarity UK, Santosh Dass, Annapurna Waughray, Sat Pal Muman and Amar for lending their time and expertise to this event! secularism.org.uk/news/2025/06/e…

If the public saw how the Church of England operated its misconduct hearings, they’d be shocked to the core by the shoddiness, unevenness, unfairness and nepotism. The CofE will want to keep all that secret for as long as possible. theguardian.com/world/2025/jun…

Well done Sam Carling MP🌹 for highlighting the Government’s failure to implement the IICSA recommendations in full concerning the mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse. Religious groups which covered up child sexual abuse are unlikely to be troubled by the proposed law.

New: In the wake of this week's Casey report, Stephen Evans says accusations of racism, often framed as 'Islamophobia', risk hindering vital discussion. secularism.org.uk/opinion/2025/0…

There is a strong case for pausing the work of the Islamophobia working group until the national inquiry into grooming gangs has concluded, as there may be important lessons to be learned from it. secularism.org.uk/opinion/2025/0…

Accusations of racism, often framed as 'Islamophobia', risk hindering vital discussion. The findings of a national audit into the sexual exploitation and abuse of children by grooming gangs highlights the dangers of chilling discourse. At a time when there's a perception of 'two-tier justice', one religion being ringfenced for special treatment is unlikely to enhance community cohesion – or the lives of British Muslims. Labour should ditch plans to define Islamophobia. secularism.org.uk/opinion/2025/0…

On Wednesday I argued that Government work on defining Islamophobia should be paused until the national inquiry on grooming gangs has concluded. This Policy Exchange report reaches the same conclusion. policyexchange.org.uk/publication/ho…

Breaking: MPs have voted in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which would enable terminally ill, mentally competent adults in England or Wales with less than six months to live to choose an assisted death. secularism.org.uk/news/2025/06/a…

England and Wales repealed their #blasphemy laws in 2008. Scotland repealed theirs in 2021. It's time for Northern Ireland to follow suit. Join our campaign 👇 secularism.org.uk/free-expressio… #BlasphemyLaws
