Seeing a load of people moving over to bluer skies today, I'm over there as @ palairet Wonder if this is the big en-masse jump? Push from the bird site, pull with invite codes being more widely available...

Deeply, deeply sceptical about the long-term payoff of the project (maybe it'll help consolidate growth in Japan over the next couple decades?) but it's hard to ignore the fact that 500kph levitating trains are super cool 🚅🚄

We are thrilled to see the Supreme Court has decided to not strike out Mr Smith's claims against seven major emitting companies, allowing the claims to now go to trial for a full hearing

On the coldest morning of the year, we've got ~1.2GW of thermal generation cranking away at full power. Meridian is building a 100MW (200MWh) battery in Ruakākā, due to come online at the end of the year. With 10 more like that, we could basically wipe fossil peaker demand!

I'll repost any of the RMI reports that come out. I'm naturally a little more pessimistic than they tend to be, but it's so nice to read something and feel hopeful for the future. The TL;DR: sodium ion and LFP are incredible opportunies, and the circular economy is gonna be big!

This is good news, but it's so painful to see the PR headlines parroted as fact. Vanadium is absolutely not renewable, it's barely used for batteries, and where it is, it's not as an alternative to lithium.

So we've gone from "noooo you can't put a price on our emissions, there's no technological solution" to "we can't use that solution, there's no price on our emissions"
