On the (likely) last good riding day of the season, I decided to go figure out exactly what a compass locator looks like.

This is my first checkride pass that I’ve been 100% responsible for. She is such an incredible pilot but even better, just a truly wonderful person. Every flight we had together was a blast, she worked so hard to get here and I’m so immensely proud.

I always knew 500hrs was going to happen eventually, but it feels really weird to have just written it in my logbook. 500 airplane hours spent flying airplanes. Isn’t that something?

Flying with my CFII applicant today and went under the hood so he could ‘teach’ me as a mock student. Haven’t been under the hood in turbulence in a few years, forgot just how miserable that experience was. My ILS was great though, good practice.

ACS updates just dropped: In: CFI ACS (no longer a PTS) Out: Formatting. Things bleed across multiple pages now and nothing has visual separation.

Could never settle down out here BUT after spending some time with 2 of my best friends in rural central ND, the place has a special spot in my heart. Some time on the farm away from Grand Forks was good.

Hitting the Publish button on AirlineApps just now was a bit surreal BUT…it means we’re moving up in the world.

To the CFIs out there that have renewed their cert on the FIRC route…does anyone have an online course they recommend? My renewal is coming due in February and I want to just get it knocked out sooner than later.

New chart cycle today and GFK looks a lot bigger with an extra 1/2mi added to 27R. Very cool to see the new charts with 2 years of work to completely remove and replace/extend 27R & twy B finally published.

No trust me, it wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the wind.

Departing in great VFR with bad weather 3+ hours away for local practice approaches but then freezing fog rolls in, field goes LIFR, and we’re AOG at a crop duster field in rural ND. Who says flight instruction is boring?

Hitting my CFI applicant with the “I dunno, you’re the instructor” after our magnetometer gave up on us today was neat. A beautiful nonissue really.

The “I wonder what it would take to rip these BluRays” into “Okay so what exactly do I need for a Plex NAS to watch from my AppleTV?” rabbit hole has been an interesting bit of reading for a Sunday evening
