SPOTLIGHT: Born in the Midwest, Faye Wattleton is a grassroots activist for repro rights. In 1978, she became the youngest & 1st African American president of Planned Parenthood. She expanded reach & thus granted access to reproductive healthcare to millions of people.

We need to #ReimagineRoe, which means making sure that abortion care is affordable and accessible for every body. But it’s more than that. It means: ✅ Fair wages ✅ Equal pay ✅ Paid leave ✅ Protections for workers.

SPOTLIGHT: Monica Raye Simpson is an LGBTQ activist/artist and the executive director of SisterSong: National Women of Color RJ Collective, a prominent reproductive justice group. The repro freedom movement, and NARAL, owe a lot to groups like SisterSong who have long been centering women of color!

SPOTLIGHT: An author, academic, and activist, Loretta J. Ross is a prolific reproductive justice figure. She is currently a Gender Studies professor at Smith College, where she is teaching the next generation of leaders with her decades of experience and wisdom.

My story isn’t the only story, nor is it the central story of what happened on Jan 6th. It is just one story of many of those whose lives were endangered at the Capitol by the lies, threats, and violence fanned by the cowardice of people who chose personal gain above democracy.

Reproductive freedom is about fighting for the power to control our own futures, our own families, our own lives.

“0 regrets” about partnering with an administration that put children in detention camps and let hundreds of thousands of people die in a global pandemic? (And that isn’t even a fraction of the damage Trump caused.) Good to know the priorities of the anti-choice movement.

SPOTLIGHT: Angela Davis is a long-time activist, scholar, & all-around queen! She has led in numerous important fights- including the prison abolition movement. We recommend reading her works such as Women, Race, and Class or listening to her speeches – she is brilliant!

ALERT: A near-total ban on abortion is headed to a vote in the South Carolina State House. The bill will ban abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected—around 6 weeks—effectively outlawing abortion in the state. #StopTheBanSC
